In Loving Memory of Pastor Roy Perdue

The Rev. Roy Perdue, 82, of El Dorado, died on Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, at Life Touch Hospice House.

He was born in El Dorado on Nov. 4, 1926, to Lavelle and Myrtle Pepper Perdue. Rev. Perdue was a veteran of World War II and served as staff sergeant with the Sixth Infantry Division. He received his theological training at Columbia Bible College and Dallas Seminary and attended LeTourneau Technical College.

He was the founding pastor of Open Door Bible Church in Bossier City, La., for 16 years, was the pastor of Hickory Grove Chapel in El Dorado for 33 years, taught Bible classes in various churches and homes for many years and also taught at United Bible College and Seminary.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a sister, Estelle Perdue Craig; a daughter, Sharon Perdue Clark; granddaughter, Emily Perdue and a grandson, Stephen Perdue.

Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Betty Baker Perdue; three sons, Timothy Perdue and his wife, Gay, of Mountain Home, Paul Perdue and his wife, Kathy, of El Dorado and Danny Perdue and his wife, Terry, of Bossier City; two grandsons, Michael Clark of Fayetteville, N.C. and Jeremy Perdue (Christal) of Mountain Home; four granddaughters, Michelle Clark Rabalais of Hot Springs, Christy Clark Wilson (Tom) of El Dorado, Sara Perdue Luna (Chris) of Mountain Home and Jamie Perdue Marino (Michael) of Bossier City; nine great-grandchildren; and two nephews, Thomas Craig of Shreveport, La., and John Craig of El Dorado.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Monday at Marrable Hill Chapel with the Revs. Sam Shepperson, Arvis Griggs and Delmas Jones officiating.

Interment will be in Olive Branch Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors in El Dorado.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
